Mrs L. Clarke B.Sc (Hons)

Head of Marketing

"I joined Thornlow during the Autumn 2008 term, initially to support the development of our Sailing curriculum. I went on to also teach the Reception Class numeracy and literacy, pilot a new IT “Dragons Den” business course which I developed and I have also coached the Hockey Team! Following on from my position as Headmaster's Secretary, I'm now Head of Marketing for Thornlow and have been involved in the development of the new School Prospectus and the development of our new school website.

I joined education later in life following a successful career in the business world. Having graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc (Hons) degree, I went on to complete a Graduate Management Training Programme with Asda; being offered the role of PA to Sir Archie Norman before moving on! I then joined Mars Confectionery UK Ltd, and held a variety of roles within the UK Sales and International Sales teams, before moving into Trade Marketing, and then more recently, Business Training. Following nearly 8 years with Mars, working with all their leading confectionary brands, I moved on to progress a career with R. Twinings Ltd -– a journey from chocolate to tea! My role at Twinings was all encompassing; I was responsible for developing and managing the entire “own label” operation from logistics, production, marketing and sales between Twinings and Fortnum & Mason in London.

I am married to Alistair and we have 2 children.  We love spending quality family time together and we love exploring the outdoors - both the land and sea.

I have spent many years expeditionning and exploring; be it climbing the Scottish Munros where I was brought up, living with local Masai in Kenya, or competing in some wonderful sailing events!"

I have always looked on the positive side of life and gain great enjoyment from helping others define and achieve their dreams; having been encouraged throughout my life to always believe you can do what you dream!"
