Boarder's Cook

“Hello, my name is Helen Jeffries and I am the Cook in the Boarding House.  I provide tasty English Fayre such as homemade cakes for tea, fish pie for supper and I prepare traditional afternoon teas twice a term too!

I love coming to work every day and relish my daily challenge of providing nutritional healthy meals and snacks for our boarding students.  I cook fresh scones every morning for the staff which everyone enjoys

“Before Thornlow, I spent 14 years working as a Senior Play-Leader in a Pre-School.  My role was centred around working with very young children whilst my own children were at school.  My cooking experiences came when I left school and went to catering college in the early 1980s.  Subsequently, I worked in various hotels whereby I took on the key role of Hotel Management having been a cook, waitress and receptionist.

I moved to Weymouth in 1991 just after I married and had 2 children.  Weymouth has been my home for over 20 years.

I really enjoy working at Thornlow; everyone is so friendly and we are a great team!”
