Mrs N. Fowke B.Sc (Hons) Dunelm PGCE
Headmistress
Teacher of Science, Maths & Cookery
"At school I enjoyed acting and science. I took A’ Levels in Chemistry; Biology and Geography. My Chemistry teachers always told me how they hoped I would pass my exams and leave …because my experiments always went wrong!
When I left school I went to Durham University where I studied Botany with David Bellamy. David Bellamy was a very inspiring teacher, who was passionate about ‘peat bogs’ and ‘sphagnum moss’. All his students had to ‘eat samples of both’!!
I have worked at Thornlow since 1990, initially as Housemistress. In 1997 I became the proprietor and joint head. Celebrating our Centenary last year was a big highight in my career; it made me reflect on the rich history of this school and all the young scholars whom have been inspired by our Thornlow Family.
In my spare time I enjoy creative writing and music and I love providing opportunity for students through introducing them to new areas of learning."
