Anzac Day
Our Australian pupils, along with Mrs Stanton, delivered a wonderful assembly to all pupils this morning about Anzac day.
Anzac stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps and the day is a remembrance day commemorating The Gallipoli Campaign of 99 years ago. The campaign lasted 8 months and around 44,000 allied troops lost their lives.
Today, we remembered The Gallipoli Campaign but also celebrated Australian culture with our Australian pupils. We learnt about the Australian Flag, The 7 States, national colours and national symbols. Our Australian friends brought in various personal artifacts such as dollars, a toy Kangaroo and Joey and football scarves with the Socceroos symbols on them.
