Outdoor Education
At Thornlow we know that many skills are developed outside of the classroom.

Over the 2012-13 winter sports season children of Thornlow Preparatory School took part in a number of different outdoor activities on the Isle of Portland. Run in conjunction with Weymouth College, our outdoor education programme provided pupils the opportunities to learn how to rock climb, scramble over rocks and mountain bike in the quarries; all under the guidance of highly qualified instructors. Pupils also worked on their "geo-caching" navigation skills.
Every two years Thornlow also arranges a "back to basics" outdoor residential week. This week allows all pupils to learn basic outdoor survival skills whilst providing an opportunity to build enduring friendships and team working capability.

We have also taken part in an Outdoor Leadership Training Course, organised by Whitehorse Leadership Training; known for organising Corporate Training Days for large corporate companies.
